Hello Liverpool !

First time on the Eurostar for most of us ! It was great as we travelled fast under The English Channel!

As we approached Liverpool Lime Street Station on Sunday 17 November in the evening, we were greeted by the Christmas lights and decorations: How amazing and beautiful !

Liverpool is a big northern coastal city on the Irish Sea, bigger than Rennes, a cosmopolitan and dynamic city.

On our first day we were impressed by the city with its beautiful architecture which made it European Capital of Culture in 2008.

Our morning started with English classes at The Liverpool School of English, we were split up in two groups and we enjoyed the variety of lessons.

Liverpool has many museums and we were lucky to visit
some of them :

We enjoyed the Maritime Museum where we learnt a lot about forced migration at International Slavery Museum.

We discovered some of the secrets of the Titanic and its fatal end.

We also liked the new Museum of Liverpool.

And of course, one can feel the history of the Beatles everywhere !

People from Liverpool (called Liverpudlians) are well known for their friendly welcome and their warmth; we  are able to confirm that this is true through our daily lovely encounters with people in the streets. They take time to explain and to give explanations if you get lost ! (in the shops and on buses).

They fully deserve their award “Uk’s friendliest city”!

We stayed in friendly host families and we were happy to speak English with them. They were very nice. But we are not used to eating packed lunches, it is very different from France. We prefer French food !!

As we are doing a course in health and social care, we visited the Wirral centre for Autism. It was an enriching visit because we took part in different activities.
Moreover, we had the opportunity to visit a sixth form college. We really enjoyed speaking English with the students from this school. Most of them were girls.  We also liked when younger students came to give us an interview. It was funny because they study French as a foreign language.

To finish, we had a lovely trip. During the whole week, we really visited interesting places and had a great time.
